New HDPE and PP Recycling Plant in Lommel
Last month marked the official groundbreaking of Morssinkhof Plastics Belgium. With this new recycling line for rigid plastics, Morssinkhof-Rymoplast is expanding its processing capacity and circular impact in Belgium. The facility will focus on recycling HDPE and PP packaging from household PMD collections into high-quality recyclates, suitable for use in household and personal care packaging.
With an annual processing capacity of 30,000 tonnes, this investment is a key link in closing the loop for post-consumer plastic packaging in Belgium. The plant is being developed in close partnership with Fost Plus and directly responds to the tightened European recycling targets effective from 2030.
From Belgian PMD bag to Belgian recyclate
This new plant transforms locally collected plastic packaging waste, such as shampoo and milk bottles (HDPE) and margarine tubs or yogurt pots (PP), into raw materials for new products. The recyclates are supplied to brand owners and packaging producers, with whom we closely collaborate to support the successful integration of recycled content into new packaging solutions. By keeping recycling local, we reduce transport distances, increase material efficiency, and actively contribute to a truly circular Belgian economy.
A strategic step in our long-term vision
The new site further strengthens our position as a leading plastics recycler and fits seamlessly within our long-term strategy of investing in technology, capacity, and regional presence. By giving household packaging waste a second life, we help accelerate Europe’s transition to a circular, climate-neutral economy.
Proven concept, local synergies
The new Lommel facility is modelled after our successful setup in Morssinkhof Plastics Heerenveen, where similar HDPE and PP packaging streams are processed via the Dutch counterpart to Fost Plus: Verpact. The location in Lommel is strategically chosen-right next to our Rymoplast site-allowing us to benefit from operational synergies and economies of scale.
