The story of Lars

“A perfect match”

Lars van Zutphen has now been employed at Morssinkhof - Plastics Lichtenvoorde for over 5 years. Before joining Morssinkhof Plastics Lichtenvoorde, he gained some work experience at another Achterhoek organization.

Lars van Zutphen

business developer

After college

“After completing my studies, I went backpacking through Southeast Asia for a few months. This was a great adventure and brought me a lot. My bucket list will always include seeing more of the world”.

Proud of

“I went to university after HBO to get a 'Master' degree. After HBO, I noticed that I had not finished my studies. Still, it was with some doubt that I started a master's at the university especially whether I, with a practical attitude, would make it in the “scientific” world. With my perseverance, I managed to obtain it. For this I am quite proud! Then I went backpacking in Southeast Asia for 3 months, quite a challenge and a great experience. It was also a time for me to look back on the study period and make plans for the future, such as a first real job.”

A perfect match

“When I was looking for a job, I was looking for a family business, international, dynamic, in a growing market and a maximum 45 min drive from Lichtenvoorde. It turned out to be a 5-minute bike ride, very pleasant. Currently I work here for 5 ½ years, started in a more supportive and operational role, now grown into a commercial role; this match seems perfect.”

Morssinkhof excellent employer

“Morssinkhof Plastics is actually my first real employer. It is a company where you get many opportunities and if you want to develop yourself, there are plenty of opportunities here! There is an informal company culture where we work together a lot and want to serve the customers as well as possible. I am really a family person and feel good about this, this suits me”.

Business Development

“The question I regularly ask myself is; what can we make and where can we apply it? My daily work is wide-ranging and very dynamic, so I have contact with customers and suppliers and deal with the purchase of materials and questions about quality & application areas. For example, even at Unilever we highlighted the possibilities of recyclate specifically for their brand Andrélon. For this I supervised the project with test materials and thought along with the wishes of this customer. What I enjoy most about my job is the contact with all kinds of people, not just customers and suppliers at home and abroad, but also with colleagues, both in Lichtenvoorde and in places like Heerenveen and Zeewolde.”

Challenge

“It is a challenge for me to set priorities, what is important for the development of the company, with which partners can we grow and cooperate on a more sustainable use of plastics. I also think it is important to help think about how we can make working at Morssinkhof-Rymoplast even more fun, easier and better and how we can develop as an organization in this respect.”

The future

“I definitely see myself still working here in 5 years. I can still learn and contribute a lot here, with all the developments coming our way. We are one of the larger recyclers of plastics in Europe and with our experience and knowledge we can really make a difference in the transition to a circular economy. I like the fact that I can contribute to this on a daily basis”.
